THE STRICKLAND BROTHERS STORY

Founded in 2016 by Justin Strickland with a dream and $35,000 lent by his PawPaw, Strickland Brothers began as a full-service gas station focused on old-fashioned customer care. Named after his sons, Tate and Beckett, it grew into Strickland Brothers 10 Minute Oil Change. Today, we are the only national chain still led by its founder, committed to putting customers first.

Strickland Brothers maintains family and community as a central value by placing great importance on making impact at the local level whether it is through providing employment to three new people a day for three years straight or fundraising for local initiatives like DonorsChoose and Levine Children’s Brenner Children’s Hospital.

FROM PIT TECH TO ENTREPRENEUR

Justin Strickland was working for Mark Agan as a Pit Tech. Justin wanted to own his own auto business so the pair partnered to purchase a full-service gas station in Welcome, NC. They sold snacks, pumped gas, and did anything they could to break even. While running the gas station, Justin dreamed of owning his own Lube Center.

A GENEROUS GIFT

Justin’s Grandfather ‘Paw Paw’ saw Justin’s dream being met with overwhelming rejection. He surprised Justin with a $35,000 check, which he received from taking out a loan against the family home, to help Justin open his first business.

LOCAL BEGINNINGS

Justin and Mark opened their first facility in Greensboro, NC called Taterbugs (after Justin’s first son Tate). They sold the gas station to run Taterbugs full time. Soon after, they sold Taterbugs to acquire the capital to build a national brand.
