It’s that time of year again — your car reminds you it’s due for an oil change. You hop in and drive to your local Strickland Brothers 10 Minute Oil Change. You don’t even have to get out of your vehicle! A friendly technician greets you with a smile and a cold water bottle. We safely guide you into the bay. What happens next?
Ever wonder what goes on during a 10-minute oil change? Let’s go behind the scenes to see how our team keeps your car running smoothly.
Vehicle Check-In and Preparation
Once you’re in the bay, our team performs a courtesy light check. We make sure every front and rear exterior light works properly.
Next, we ask key questions about your vehicle, like its current mileage, to ensure we use the correct oil and filters based on your manufacturer’s recommendations.
Then, we ask you to turn off the engine and pop the hood so we can start the quick oil change process.
The Oil Change and Courtesy Checks
A technician first checks your oil level and notes whether it’s full or low. We drain the old oil to prepare for fresh oil. Most cars have a drain plug gasket designed for one-time use, so our technicians replace it to ensure a proper seal and prevent future leaks.
Next, we inspect the oil filter and baseplate for any dirt, debris, or double-gasket issues. Your oil filter is replaced every time you get an oil change to keep your engine clean and protected.
Then, we fill your tires to the manufacturer-recommended PSI and check and top off fluids as a courtesy, such as windshield washer fluid.
While we are topping off fluids, we also get your new oil and oil filter. The oil filter removes contaminants from your oil, protecting your engine.
We also inspect the engine air filter and ask your permission for cabin air filter replacement if needed.
Windshield wiper blades are inspected with replacements available for an additional cost if they show signs of wear.
Tire rotations are offered as an additional service at select locations, available for an extra cost to help extend the life of your tires.
Finally, we add new, fresh oil and verify the level with you before reinstalling the oil cap.
Final Review and Send-Off
After filling your engine with brand-new premium oil, we perform bottom-side safety checks, inspecting the plug, filters, and gasket. We’re also transparent – we’ll verify the oil level with you after we’ve added the new oil for all vehicles that have a dipstick.
We make sure there are no leaks under your vehicle and confirm that your engine has proper oil pressure before you leave the bay by conducting a pressure check. Safety is important to us, so we take the extra step to verify your vehicle is ready for the road ahead!
Our greeter reviews all services performed on your car, answers any questions, and resets your oil reminder light. After payment, a team member offers you an air freshener and installs new wipers if you purchased them.
We then guide you safely out of the service bay and thank you for choosing Strickland Brothers.
